The old Nurburgring was 17 miles of winding track through the forest. However doubts about its safety were raised in the the 1970's and the last race on the old track was 1976 when after Nikki Lauder suffered serious burns in a crash. F1 returned in 1984 to a new, but much shorter, track built alongside the old track. Unfortunately the track is now a shadow of its former glory.
The Ferrari's were the quickest cars in the 2010 race, but the race finnished in controversey after Felipe Massa was told to let Fernando Alonso through to win the race.
