Fernando Alonso was the third youngest driver in F1 when he started with Minardi in 2001. After a move to Renault as test driver in 2002, he progressed to race driver and won back to back championships in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he moved to McLaren but his increasingly acrimonious relationship with Lewis Hamilton led him back to Renault for 2008. The 2008 Renault was not fast, but Alonso did win the first night race in Singapore and followed this with a second win in Japan and finally finished 5th. The 2009 Renault was not much of an improvement with only one podium finish during the season. In 2010 Alonso moved to Ferrari in the hope of getting a drive in championship contending car. He started the season in style by winning the first race, although it was not until race 11 in Germany until he won again (albeit in controversial style when the team told Massa to let Alonso win).
