George Russell is a British driver who has come through the Mercedes young driver program and in his first three years with Williams he has shown is speed and quality as a driver, leading Mercedes to sign him for the 2022 season alongside Lewis Hamilton.

George Russell had a mixed season in the Mercedes that was at times difficult to drive and lacked the performance of the Red Bull. This meant he finished down the drivers championship compared to his team mate Lewis Hamilton, but together that gave Mercedes 2nd in the constructors championship.

He did well in qualifying but the race pace of the Williams limited his opportunities for scoring points. In a wet qualifying at Spa George Russell qualified second and as the race was aborted after two laps, he was awarded second place and his first pdoium finish.

George Russell had a good season regularly getting his Williams into the second part of qualifying and well into the mid field during the races. He drove Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes for one race when Hamilton had a poisitve COVID-19 test and was unluckly not to win the race but did score 3 points.
