The 1951 World Championship saw Juan Manuel Fangio drive his Alfa Romeo to the first of his five championship titles. Juan Manuel Fangio won the first race of the season in which Sterling Moss made his Formula 1 debut. The race at Silverstone saw Ferrari take their first race win and was also the debut of the BRM team. the Ferrari cars became stronger as the season progressed. Alfa Romeo withdrew at the end of the season for financial reasons.
