In 1957 Juan Manuel Fangio moved from Ferrari to Maserati and won his fifth drivers championship. Sterling Moss won the British Grand Prix at Aintree in a Vanwall and took second in the championship. Ferrari had a lacklustre season with no race wins and at the end of the season Maserati withdrew for financial reasons.
