In the 1960 season only Ferrari were not running rear engined cars and struggled all season. Jack Brabham took his Cooper to a second consecutive drivers and constructors championship. After two non-competitive season the move to rear engine gave Lotus and Sterling Moss a more competitive car. This season also saw appearances for up and coming drivers Jim Clark, Graham Hill and John Surtees.
