The 1968 was notable for several changes in Formula 1 and also for the death of Jim Clark in a Formula 2 race. This year saw the first introduction of aerodynamic wings and the Cosworth DFV was available as a customer engine and would become the major engine for the next 15 years. This year also saw the introduction of sponsorship on cars. McLaren won their first race when Bruce McLaren won at Spa.
