The 1983 season saw significant changes to the regulations and the introduction of turbo engines by several teams. This was the final season for the long serving Cosworth DFV engine to be compettative. Nelson Piquet won his second drivers championship in a Brabham, whilst Ferrari took their second successive constructors title.
