After the acrimony between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost the previous season, Alain Prost moved to Ferrari. These two drivers dominated the 1990 season and for the second season is successtion they clashed in Japan, giving the Drivers title to Ayrton Senna. McLaren took their third constructors title in as many years.
