F1 Results and Standings for the 2026 championship
Rule changes for 2026
The 2026 season sees significant changes to the cars, the engines and the areodynamics.
The care will weigh 768kg, which is a reduction of 30kg. They will be 200mm shorter and 100mm narrower. The idea being to make them more agile.
The engines will have a 50:50 split between internal combustion engine and electric power and will run on 100% sustainable fuel.
The drag reduction system (DRS) is being scrapped and replaced by active-aero. This has two modes to alter both the front and rear wings. Corner mode (Z-mode) increases down force in the corners to increase cornering speed and straight mode (X-mode) to reduce straight line drag and increase top speed. The increase in stop speed in needed to increase the braking to increase the electrical regeneration needed for the increase in electrical energy.
Overtake mode is dwsigned to increase overtaking. When a car is within 1 second of the car in front at the detection point it can use an extra 0,5MJ of energy over the next lap.
Boost mode allows the diver to use extra energy from the battery at any point in a lap as was available under the previous regulations.
