Manor team history

Manor were a new British team for the 2010 season with Nick Writh (ex Simtek and Benetton) as Technical Director and powered by Cosworth engines but actually ran the 2010 season as Virgin Racing. The team then became Marussia in 2012 which then went into administration at the end of the 2014 season. Following a new injection of finance the team raced in 2015 back under the Manor F1 name. They arrived in Australia for the first race of the season but were unable to take to the track. At the Singapore GP Roberto Merhi was replaced by American driver Alexander Rossi. At the end of 2015 both founder John Booth and Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon left the company. For 2016 they used Mercedes customer engines and have two drivers new to F1 for the 2016 season.

At the end of 2015 there was a shake up of the senior management with both founder John Booth and Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon leaving the team. For 2016 the team will be using customer engines from Mercedes which should improve the performance of the car, though with 2 drivers new to F1 developing the car may be a problem.

After the Marussia team went into administration at the end of 2014, there was a fresh injection of capital and the team entered the 2015 season as Manor F1. The car was not ready for the start of the season and continued to struggle at the back of the grid.
