This was a new circuit for 2005 with good facilities that ran races through to 2011. It proved to be a popular track with the drivers. After a break of 9 years the race returned in 2020 and 2021.

2021

Race winner: Valtteri Bottas Mercedes
For 2021 the Turkish GP replaced the cancelled Canadian GP. In a wet qualifying Valtteri Bottas took pole position after Lewis Hamilton took a grid penalty for changing engine parts. Valtteri Bottas won the race on damp track did not dry meaning everyone was running intermediate tyres and how drivers managed the tyres and when they changed to a second set influenced the result. Max Verstappen was comfortable in second place ahead of the other Red Bull of Sergio Perez. Charles Leclerc had a good race for Ferrari eventually finishing fourth.

2020

Race winner: Lewis Hamilton Mercedes
F1 returned to Turkey after a 9 year gap the track was resurfaced just before the race leaving a very low grip surface. Lance Stroll was on pole position ahead of Max Verstappen. The race started wet which on top of the low grip surface was a challenge to the drivers. In the end Lewis Hamilton won from Sergio Perez.

2011

Race winner: Sebastian Vettel Red Bull
The 2011 race was again dominated by Red Bull, with Sebastian Vettel winning from Mark Webber. There was lots of action and overtaking, with most drivers stopping four times for tyres.

2010

Race winner: Lewis Hamilton McLaren
In 2010 Red Bull were heading for first and second until their two cars clashed, allowing Lewis Hamilton to win from Jenson Button.

2009

Race winner: Jenson Button Brawn
In 2009 Vettel took pole, but Button. took the win to make it six wins from seven races. The two Red Bull's made up the other two places on the podium.

2008

Race winner: Felipe Massa Ferrari
Felipe Massa won from pole position, for his third successive Turkish GP victory. Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren was second on a three stop race compared to Massa's two stop race ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in the other Ferrari. Prior to the race the Super Aguri team withdrew due to financial difficulties.

2007

Race winner: Felipe Massa Ferrari
Felipe Massa won the race from pole position ahead of team mate Kimi Raikkonen. Lewis Hamilton pushed Kimi Raikkonen hard until a puncture dropped him down to 5th.

2006

Race winner: Felipe Massa Ferrari
Felipe Massa won the race from pole position but with the action going on behind him, Fernando Alonso just managing to stay ahead Michael Schumacher. Accidents brought out 2 safety car periods during the race.

2005

Race winner: Kimi Raikkonen McLaren
The first Turkish GP was won by Kimi Raikkonen from pole position having led every lap of the race. Fernando Alonso was second after Juan Pablo Montoya ran into a back marker dropping him behind Fernando Alonso.
