The 1959 season was a pivotal season for Formula One as Jack Brabham took his rear engined Cooper-Climax T51 to both the drivers championship and the constructors championships. Tony Brooks was second with his Ferrari 246. This season also saw the first win for Bruce McLaren who at 22 was the youngest race winner.
