The circuit was purpose built and is a mix of permanent and temporary street track designed by Hermann Tilke. The event suffered from a variety of problems and was dropped from the calendar after four races.

Race winner: Sebastian Vettel Red Bull
Sebastian Vettel won from pole position in 2013 from the two Lotus's of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, with Nico Hulkenberg fourth in the improved Sauber. Sebastian Vettel won comfortably but two safety cars meant there was plenty of action going on behind him.

2012

Race winner: Sebastian Vettel Red Bull
The 2012 race was won by Sebastian Vettel from team mate Mark Webber, followed by the two Ferrari's. Lewis Hamilton struggled with his McLaren all weekend and Jenson Button was taken out on the first lap.

Sebastian Vettel won from the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton who had started on pole position with Mark Webber third in the other Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso won from Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren and Felipe Massa in a Ferrari. Sebastian Vettel took pole position but he retired with engine problems.
