Sergio Perez career
Sergio Perez (nickname of Checo) is a Mexican driver who came to Formula 1 via Formula 3 and GP2 and would have scored points in his first race but the car was disqualified on a technicality. Sergio Perez achieved the second podium finish for Force India in 2014, although was out scored over the season by his team mate. In a wet race in Malaysia in 2012 he came second with his Sauber's best result so far. After a season McLaren he moved to Force India which became Racing Point. He was replaced by Sebastian Vettel for the 2021 season but was signed up by Red Bull. He played a significant role in helping Max Verstappen to his first world title and Red Bull pushing Mercedes close for the constructors championship. He struggled in the 2024 season, consistently under-performing leading to Red Bull replacing him for the 2025 season.
