The 1962 season saw the introduction of the revolutionary Lotus 25, the first to feature the monocoque design. Ferrari struggled this season as it ran essentially the previous years cars due to internal staff disputes. BRM and Climax (supplying Lotus, Cooper and Lola) had new V8 engines. Jack Brabham started his own team. Lola and Porsche entered Formula 1 and then withrew at the end of the season. However the season belonged to BRM which won its only constructors title and Graham Hill won the drivers championship. Jim Clark scored his first race victory this year. Stirling Moss was injured in a non-championship race that effectively brought his career to an end.
