Jackie Stewart career
Jackie Stewart started his Formula One career with BRM. Although not the most competitive car he did win his first Monaco Grand Prix in 1966. At the race in Spa in 1966, Jackie Stewart had a major accident where he was trapped in his car. As a result of this Jackie Stewart worked for increasing safety in Formula 1 during the rest of his time in F1. A move to driving a Matra car brought Stewart his first World Championship in 1969. He moved to Tyrrell in 1970 where he won the drivers championships in both 1971 and 1973. He retired at the end of the 1973 season after 99 races. He continued to be involved in motor sport and in 1997 ran Stewart Grand Prix with his son until being bought out by Ford in 2000. He was the first driver to win a GP by 2 laps with Damon Hill being the only other driver. He alos won 3 GP's by over a lap, a record held jointly with Fangio and Ascari.
