F1 Championship 1969

In the 1969 season Jackie Stewart took the drivers title in a Ken Tyrrell produced Matra winning six races in the season. During the season several teams tried, unsuccessfully with four wheel drive cars. Also the very high rear wings that had proliferated were replaced by lower wings directly attached to the body work. Graham Hill broke both his legs in an accident at Watkins Glen although he continued to race he was no longer successful.
