Damon Hill career
Son of the great Graham Hill and despite the pressure put upon him to follow his father and carry British hopes of a world champion driver, he was a good racer who won his title with Williams in 1996 and pushed Michael Schumacher in the mid 1990's. Hill came to F1 late, being 32 when he started for Brabham. He moved to Williams in 1993 and led the team following the tragic death of Senna in 1994 when he lost the championship by 1 point to Michael Schumacher after they collided and both retired in Australia. Following his championship winning season in 1996, he had an unsuccessful season at Arrows before moving to Jordan. Damon Hill subsequently took over the running of the BRDC and over saw the successful redevelopment of the Silverstone circuit. Damon Hill was the last driver to win a race by 2 laps at the 1995 Australian GP (Jackie Stewart being the other driver to do this).
