For 1988 Ayton Senna joined Alain Prost at McLaren now powered by a Honda engine rather than the old TAG-Porsche engine. The drivers championship was won by Ayrton Senna despite Alain Prost scoring more points, but the scroing system only counted the best 11 of the 16 races. With its two drivers dominating the championship, McLaren easily won the constructors title.
