Force India took over the Spyker team for the start of the 2008 season and it struggled at the back of the grid. During 2009 significant improvements were made to the car and at Spa, Fisichella put the car on pole position and then scored the teams first points with a second second place. The team's performance was similar in 2010. In late 2011 a significant stake in the team was sold to the Sahara group.
