Red Bull Ring, Austria

This track has been used in several versions over a number of years. It hosted the Austrian GP from 1970 to 1987 as the long Österreichring and after getting redesigned by Herman Tilke it became shortened to the A1-Ring and hosted the Austrian GP from 1997 to 2003. After this the circuit was purchased and redeveloped by Red Bull and returned to host the Austrian GP in 2014. The circuit has full throttle for 77% of the lap and has the shortest lap time of all the circuits currently being used.

2024

Race winner: George Russell Mercedes
Max Verstappen took pole position ahead of Lando Norris and towards the end of the race Norris was pushing to overtake Verstappen and as Verstappen defended strongly leading to Norris retiring from the race and Verstappen getting a 10 second penalty. This left George Russell was comfortably third to take the win ahead of Oscar Piastri in the McLaren. With most cars having two pit stops and different tyre strategies there was plenty of overtaking and close racing.

Race winner: Max Verstappen Red Bull
Max Verstappen won from pole position ahead of Charles Leclerc in a Ferrari. A number of drivers received penalties for exceeding track limits.

2022

Race winner: Charles Leclerc Ferrari
Charles Leclerc won from second on the grid ahead of Max Verstappen who started on pole position. They were followed by the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

2021 Styrian Grand Prix

Race winner: Max Verstappen Red Bull
This was an additional race run at the Red Bull Ring in a COVID-19 affected season. Max Verstappen won from pole position ahead of the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Race winner: Max Verstappen Red Bull
Max Verstappen won from pole position ahead of Valtteri Bottas in a Mercedes and Lando Norris in a McLaren. Max Verstappen also led every lap and took fastest lap.

2020

Race winner: Valtteri Bottas Mercedes
This was the first race of the delayed and shortened 2020 season. Valtteri Bottas took pole position from Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton. In the race Valtteri Bottas won from pole but three safety cars and a race of attrition went on behind him with only 11 cars finishing the race. There was a good result of 3rd and 5th for McLaren.

2020 Styrian GP

Race winner: Lewis Hamilton Mercedes
This was an additional race run at the Red Bull Ring in a COVID-19 affected season. Lewis Hamilton took pole in his Mercedes from Max Verstappen in a Red Bull during a wet qualifying session. Lewis Hamilton won in a dry race with Valtteri Bottas second after holding off Max Verstappen. Both Ferrari's retired early after they came together.

2019

Race winner: Max Verstappen Red Bull
Charles Leclerc took pole position but Max Verstappen recovered from a poor start to take the race win ahead of Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas.

2018

Race winner: Max Verstappen Red Bull
Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton qualified 1 and 2, but both retired from the race. Max Verstappen took the win ahead of the Ferrari's of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.

2017

Race winner: Valtteri Bottas Mercedes
Valtteri Bottas won from pole position from Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari and Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bull. Daniil Kvyat took out both Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen from the race.

2016

Race winner: Lewis Hamilton Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton won from pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen. Sebastian Vettel crashed out after a tyre failure. The result was controversial as Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg had a coming together on the final lap.

2015

Race winner: Nico Rosberg Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton took pole position in 2015, but Nico Rosberg won after taking the lead in the first corner. Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen crashed out on the first lap and there were four other retirements. Williams and Ferrari battled to be the best of the rest and Red Bull continued to struggle.

2014

Race winner: Nico Rosberg Mercedes
In 2014 Williams had both cars on the front row of the grid for the first time in many years. A poor qualifying from Lewis Hamilton put him 9th on the grid with Nico Rosberg 3rd. Nico Rosberg used the pace of his Mercedes to get ahead of the Williams and Lewis Hamilton had a good start and a strong race to finish second. The two Williams drivers came 3rd and 4th for their best result in several seasons and with Valtteri Bottas having his first podium finish.
