F1 Championship 1972

In 1972 Emerson Fittipaldi won his first drivers championship in a Lotus that also won the constructors championship. The Lotus had new sponsorship and colours and was known as a JPS. Brabham was acquired by businessman Bernie Ecclestone. This season also saw the last race win for the BRM team.
