This was a new venue for 2008. It was run on a street circuit and was the Formula 1 night race. The race was won by Fernando Alonso for Renault after Nelson Piquet Jr crashed. However during 2009 it was aadmitted that Nelson Piquet Jr crashed deliberately to allow Alonso to win.
The 2009 race race was won by Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren from pole position.
