Nurburgring, Germany circuit details

The old Nurburgring was 17 miles of winding track through the forest. However doubts about its safety were raised in the the 1970's and the last race on the old track was 1976 when after Nikki Lauder suffered serious burns in a crash. F1 returned in 1984 to a new, but much shorter, track built alongside the old track. The track is now a shadow of its former glory, but considerably safer and still subject to variable weather.
