F1 Championship 1997

Jaques Villeneuve won the drivers championship in spite of the controversy of Michael Schumacher being deemed to have deliberately crashed into him in the final race. Michael Schumacher was disqualified from the championship as a result. This was the last time a Williams driver won the drivers championship. This was the Stewart teams first season in F1.
