Interlagos has been home of most of the Brazilian GP's with only a few races run in Rio. The track is has bumpy and taxing for the driver, though it was resurfaced for 2007 to make it smoother. Massa won the 2008 Brazilian GP only to lose the drivers championship by 1 point to Hamilton in an exciting season finale.
The 2009 qualifying was disrupted by rain, putting two of the championship contenders near the back of the grid. After first lap incidents that brought out the safety car, Mark Webber won the race. The fifth place for Jenson Button was enough for him to secure the drivers title and for Brawn to take the constructors championship.
